The Server

Techhouse runs her own server, on which members can request accounts. During the year, she is hooked up to either a deskjet printer donated by Ryan Evans('00) or a seasonally functional laser printer donated by John Leen ('00). All members have access to printing, supplies for which are paid for from the house consumables budget.

At the moment, our server runs a version of Linux, and when members access their accounts from their personal computers, they do so through a UNIX terminal. Not all members join Techhouse with the knowledge necessary to use their accounts, since most of us grew up with Windows or Mac OS. A tutorial exists to guide new and current members through the basics of getting a Techhouse account and learning how to use it.
