OK, so last week the Ratty served a meal called "sonbal boantjies". Was
anyone there? I wasn't, primarily because the menu said "sonbal boantjies".

I've talked to people who went to the Ratty that day and hardly any
of them recall seeing any sonbal boantjies there. Did anyone see the
sonbal boantjies? One person said it (they?) looked like some sort of
vegetable dish, but I'm not so sure: in that case, wouldn't it be listed
as "vegan sonbal boantjies"? And I haven't found anybody who actually
ate the sonbal boantjies.

By this time I was getting worried, so I searched Alta Vista and Google,
and between the two of them I only came up with four web pages about
sonbal boantjies, all of which were Ratty menus. Apparently sonbal
boantjies was served once before, on February 14, 1997, where it was
accompanied, as it was this month, by cheese biscuit bread.

What the hell is sonbal boantjies?
