Selene stretches a bit after teleporting.

Yuuwaku watches Selene rather miserably

Selene looks over towards Yuuwaku. "Are you okay?"

Yuuwaku:

Selene:

Samantha:

We're here visiting relatives. Right everyone? ^_-

Galen shrugs.

Samantha wink winks.

Yuuwaku:

I hate Aunt Martha.

Yuuwaku:

She makes terrible cookies.

Yuuwaku sighs sadly

Samantha:

I know Yuu, she's such a bitch. But we must keep face, hmm? ^_-

Teleport Station Girl:

Hmm... I hope you don't have to get to central Drachenburg to meet them...

Samantha:

Why's that?

Teleport Station Girl:

To get there from here you need to cross the Drachenburg Wastelands. It's not a happy place... Where did you teleport in from?

Marcus:

. o O(She's awfully chatty for a teleport station worker.)

Galen:

Someplace out in the middle of nowhere.

Teleport Station Girl checks the logs. "Ahh, Union Station in Worcester. No wonder... They have the worst service of any station on the planet."

Samantha:

I didn't think they were so bad. ^^;

Galen:

Anyway, let's get moving.

Teleport Station Girl:

They only offer service to the South Drachenburg station. North Drachenburg is where most people visiting the city teleport to.

Teleport Station Girl:

Good luck crossing the wastelands... The city lies to the north.

Galen:

Thanks.

Teleport Station Girl:

You're welcome." *kawaii smile*

Jan:

. o O (Crossing the wastelands? Is this normal?)

Yuuwaku looks around at the rest of the group...

Galen gives the girl a slight, Zelgadis like, wave and walks out of the station.

Marcus follows Galen, "She was just a little too talkative.

Yuuwaku:

I smell danger.

Galen:

No joke..

As you step out of the teleport station, you see the wastelands to the north. The remnants of the result of a dark god and his minions establishing a fortress here 2500 years ago, some remnants of the scarred land remains, including the ruins of the fortress. Fortunately, most of the surrounding territory has recovered...

Yuuwaku:

Is anyone else worried about a place with the name "wastelands"?

Samantha coughs, "...I'd rather see bitchy Aunt Martha."

Marcus:

Of course we're worried.

Selene shivers a little.

Jan nods.

Galen:

This land was scarred beyond any hope of a full recovery.

Kodah looks around with disturbed interest

Yuuwaku:

Anyway, I'm sorry Selene... I'm just a little upset cause we weren't able to protect you before...

Selene:

It's okay... I mean, I don't blame you... What matters is that you rescued me and I'm still okay, right?

Near the edge of the wastelands you see a solitary man, wearing a dark blue hooded cloak...

Yuuwaku:

But are you really safe with us?

Kodah raises an eyebrow at the newcomer

Jan looks at the guy.

Marcus:

Who is that over there?

Yuuwaku stiffens and stares at the man.

Galen shakes his head, "The stench of a monster not of this world is still in the air.

Samantha stares at the cloaked stranger.

Yuuwaku:

Maybe it's Aunt Martha.

Hooded man turns towards the group, his face obscured by the shadow of his hood, then ignores them...

Samantha:

God I hope not. ^_-

Marcus:

Well, he seems to be ignoring us. I say we return the favor.

Kodah:

Galen:

good idea, Marcus.

Hooded Man:

It's been... so long... But soon...

Yuuwaku blinks

Samantha narrows her eyes, "...So long for what?

Yuuwaku:

I think we should ask him about the Neo-Pharosians.

Hooded Man doesn't hear Samantha.

Kodah:

Samantha:

Samantha decides to be nosy.

Galen:

don't bother, Samantha.

Galen:

he's probably going to be trouble.

Hooded Man turns towards Samantha. "You'll find out...

Why do you wear a hood?

Kodah:

I hate surprises

Hooded Man turns away and starts walking slowly towards the ruined fortress, ignoring Yuuwaku.

Samantha glowers, "Hey...don't you ever watch comics or soap operas? Hooded figures are 99% evil. Especially when they ignore you and say cryptic things.

Galen eyes the hooded man.

Yuuwaku shrugs

Marcus:

Just leave the guy alone.

Samantha:

...I think we should follow him.

Yuuwaku:

I concur with Samantha.

Galen shakes his head...

Galen:

Samantha:

Better to be safe than sorry, here.

Galen:

His aura..

Yuuwaku:

Galen:

It's not of this world.

Marcus:

Galen:

But it's similar to Raven's for some odd reason..

Jan sighs. "Is anybody's that hangs around us?"

No, I mean his aura seems alien..not of this PLANET.

Kodah:

Kodah:

How do you figure that?

Because I've been all over these two worlds, and have never sensed an aura like that.

Marcus turns away from looking at the hooded figure and mutters, "That was really odd."

Yuuwaku:

Yuuwaku:

I'm afraid I'm rather poor backup.

The hooded man still is within sight, and is still walking towards the ruined fortress.

Marcus:

My interest is peaked, I'll go.

Yuuwaku:

Maybe to follow the hooded man

Maybe to the city of Drachenburg

Varemi eyes the man.

Kodah:

Aw hell, why not?

Galen:

But if we go, I want you to all listen to me, OK?

Kodah plods after the strange fellow

Galen follows Kodah.

Varemi:

Hey. No one gets that privilege.

Yuuwaku:

Are you going to tell us a story, Galen?

Samantha is already going towards the hooded figure from hell. ^^:

Jan lemmings.

Varemi follows Samantha.

Galen:

You'll find out soon enough, Yuu.

Yuuwaku is trotting after Samantha.

The ruined tower, although mostly destroyed, seems to be fairly structurally sound -- what's left of it doesn't appear like it will collapse any time soon.

Yuuwaku:

I wonder if he's cute.

Galen:

That's the least of my concern..

Galen:

His power is probably greater than any that this world has faced... except maybe...

Selene:

Maybe we should keep a distance from him? That way he won't notice us so easily...

Marcus keeps his mental guard up and mutters, "There's no telling what kind of bad memories are still lingering here.

Samantha sighs, "...Something tells me he knows we're gonna follow him... but...

Yuuwaku:

But I'm a samurai, not a ninja.

Yuuwaku:

If we're going to be stealthy...

Galen:

Yuu, just keep your distance, OK?

Varemi:

Yuuwaku takes out a handkerchief, pulls it over his head and ties it under his nose.

Yuuwaku:

Now I feel stealthy.

Galen:

he's not taking this seriously.

Yuuwaku:

I'm taking this as seriously as I'm taking everything else.

He might mean...

Samantha:

I'm taking this seriously, otherwise, I wouldn't be following him.

Marcus whispers to Galen, "What do you expect, at times, he appears to have the mind of a child."

Varemi:

Yuuwaku takes off the handkerchief and shakes his hair out, then smiles to Varemi.

Galen:

Marcus, I've only felt one other power similar to this one..

Varemi fiddles with her runes and glares at the ground accusingly as she follows along.

Marcus:

*to Marcus* And that would be?

Hooded Man walks inside the ruined tower and disappears within what's left of its walls.

Kodah moves along quietly, keeping the stranger at the edge of his sight.

Samantha , now somewhat leading next to Kodah, follows the man as closely as she can.

Galen:

Raven Darkhole, my sister. She's possessed by an undead spirit inside a "Lich Crown."

Yuuwaku:

Does the aura feel like her with or without the crown?

Galen:

With the crown, Yuu.

Yuuwaku:

Yuuwaku:

Galen:

After she gained the crown, her power grew substantially.

Yuuwaku:

Then the crown might be alien?

Galen follows the man into the tower, trying to read any sort of strange auras within the ruined fortress.

Varemi:

...hmm.

Yuuwaku:

Course, he was wearing a hood... maybe he got the crown from your sister.

Jan seems on edge as the party nears the tower. He keeps a few of his shurikens out and ready in his hands.

Samantha:

. o O ( ...Maybe Galen's sister had a sex change.... Nah )

Varemi tries to make this all logically make sense in her mind.

Inside the fortress, you see the remnants of various busts of some sort of alien demon. There is also a staircase heading upwards.

Guys... we have to be create around here.

Kodah:

. o O (This doesn't bode well)

Samantha:

...Nice... Alien busts...least they're not nude busts. I don't think I could handle it.

Galen looks at the statues and pales. "Oh no..... if I'm... not mistaken...

Marcus:

Um, how would we know if there were nude or not?

Kodah proceeds to move from shadow to shadow, going full paranoid

Samantha:

...Good question.

Yuuwaku:

What is it Galen?

Galen:

The alien dark lord from the Nephar War... those busts...

Yuuwaku:

Alien dark lord? Who was that?

Kodah half listens as he scans the area with his senses.

Galen:

The legends I read didn't say what his name was..but it was told of in the stories of Dragonmistress Alys too.

There are footprints leading up the stairs.

Varemi:

Varemi points.

Galen silently heads up the stairs.

Samantha leads the group up the magical happy stairs.

Varemi follows after pointing.

Yuuwaku:

Maybe Mr. Hood is trying to revive him.

Varemi:

Kodah stealths up the stairs as best he's able

Galen:

I hope not.

Samantha:

Over my dead body he will. I like living.

Varemi:

o O (Magical happy stairs...)

Galen:

because if he's trying to revive that thing, then these worlds are doomed.

Jan scampers towards the head of the party, grim and silent.

Jan:

Sam...

Samantha:

Yes?

On this floor, there is a long corridor leading to another flight of stairs... There are also several holes in the floor to avoid...

Jan:

Maybe I should I lead instead of you. There are undead around.

Samantha:

...Okay.

Galen:

I'm right behind you, Jan.

Kodah nods to Jan

Samantha lets Jan lead.

Yuuwaku:

I wonder if it's related to Ares in any way.

Galen floats slightly off the ground and follows right behind Jan.

Varemi:

Jan keeps slightly ahead of the party, though still in sight of the group.

Kodah hangs back while Jan leads

Varemi thinks about this.

Samantha:

Ares, huh? Geez, I hope not.

Yuuwaku pads along silently, watching Jan with wide eyes

Galen:

the power that defeated that beast has been lost for almost 2500 years....

Jan heads down the long corridor.

Kodah follows behind, covering for others as they move forward

Samantha follows behind Jan closely for back up.

Galen:

black magic won't work..so I dare not try Venom or Exodus.

Jan goes up the stairs.

Yuuwaku hangs back towards the rear of the party, playing with the cut on the back of his hand

The footprints lead up the third flight of stairs...

...Looks like he might be headed towards the top...

Kodah follows Jan, drawing his staff from whatever strange space he uses to store it

Galen:

I guess up we go.

Jan:

Yes.

Galen heads up.

Kodah:

Stay sharp people

This floor has another long walk leading to yet another staircase. There are also larger statues, this time mostly intact, of the strange alien demon.

Yuuwaku moves to keep close to Varemi

Samantha:

...I have a feeling this demon isn't gonna host a bake sale if he gets loose...

Kodah considers the alien, having never seen anything like it

Jan surveys the corridor for immediate dangers, but keeps on moving.

Marcus starts up, "The mind of a creature like that . . . .

Galen:

Jan, I hope you know that I sense an extremely powerful source of dark power in this place.

Jan:

I'm sure.

Jan wonders what the hell that person is doing over here.

Yuuwaku:

I wonder why the dark alien god would want to take over this world...

Varemi:

Many reasons, probably.

Varemi:

I wouldn't know any of them..

Galen:

legend says that he laid waste to an entire solar system before coming here.

Yuuwaku:

It's not a particularly nice place.

Samantha:

Because he has way too much free time on his hands. And he's insane.

Yuuwaku:

Maybe that's why.

Kodah:

As you reach the fourth staircase, you can see holes in the ceiling that allow you to notice some sort of altar on the floor above you...

Galen:

O_o;

Jan:

Marcus:

We can't possibly know if a alien mind is insane.

Samantha:

...An Altar...

Varemi:

Yeah..

Galen:

Jan, are you thinking what I am?

Samantha:

. o O ( Wonder what he's sacrificing... )

We have nothing to compare it to..

Yuuwaku:

Especially if we don't know what it is to begin with

Kodah ducks into the shadows as he moves forward

Jan:

That your sister is here? Possibly.

Yuuwaku looks over at the altar with mild interest

You can't see much of the altar from the holes in the ceiling. You can also barely make out the hooded man's voice...

Yuuwaku:

I don't know if I'd be so upset if a demon alien god were to destroy the world.

Yuuwaku:

I guess I wouldn't.

Marcus decides to open his mind a bit, against his better judgment.

Yuuwaku goes quiet.

Galen:

Actually, Jan, I was thinking that that joker is going to try to resurrect that Dark Lord.

Samantha:

Shh...

Samantha:

Listen...

Jan shrugs.

Galen looks up, thinking as he listens.

Hooded Man:

*barely audible* "The time... unshackle you... lord...

Jan:

Kodah ducks from one shadow to another, straining to hear more of what's being said

Yuuwaku idly wonders if the hooded man is seeking for worshipers.

The hooded man's voice is too soft to be heard without getting closer to him...

Galen steps up the stairs, silently, listening to what the hooded zealot is saying.

Samantha:

C'mon...

Galen:

Shhhhh.

Jan nods and starts moving again.

Yuuwaku proceeds with caution.

Kodah zips to one side of the stairs, not moving up just yet

Varemi looks on..

Jan is moving up, but carefully so as to stay hidden.

Varemi considers this strange following idea.

When you reach the top floor, you see what's left of a large altar dedicated to this strange alien demon. You can also hear the hooded man much more clearly. However, he has yet to notice your presence...

Samantha slowly, very slowly, starts inching up the stairs. Because well, dammit...you don't just sit here and let a dark god get resurrected, you know?

Varemi decides to wait a moment and watch from afar....

Kodah hangs back for a bit, trying to decide how to proceed

Hooded Man:

Lord Shadowfall... I promise you that, as your humble servant, I shall free you from the prison that cursed Alys has trapped you... I have new allies this time, and together we shall finally bring forth your glorious death and destruction to this world...

Yuuwaku crawls up slowly, idly wondering if he should make a loud noise and announce their presence.

Jan:

. o O (Like hell you will...)

Samantha:

. o O ( Allies...? Perhaps it IS Ares... )

Galen:

.oO(Oh shit..he's going to resurrect the dark lord.)

Kodah begins to creep up the stairs

Hooded Man begins chanting some sort of prayer in an alien language.

Samantha looks to Jan as if to say, "Ready?

Yuuwaku wonders if it's really wrong to let people practice their own religion.

Jan glances back at her and nods.

Samantha:

(w) Let's go.

Varemi hmms

The altar begins to glow slightly as the hooded man chants and prays.

Galen:

.oO(The dark lord, Shadowfall...if that demon resurrects, the only power that can counter him would be too dangerous to even use.)

Varemi starts sneaking up the stairs after them...

Jan bodily rushes the guy!

Yuuwaku hangs back and watches

Samantha quickly dashes forward and also rushes the guy!

Varemi walks in her "boots", also known as socks with a tread...

Galen throws a lance of Spirit energy at the hooded man.

Hooded Man oofs and is tackled, his hood thrown back to reveal a head with long dark hair and a brown scar over his right eye.

Kodah gets ready to attack, in case the first wave fails

Samantha:

I don't think we'll be summoning any dark gods today, buddy.

Jan tries pinning him to the ground with Samantha.

Hooded Man:

How DARE you desecrate this sacred building with your presence!

Yuuwaku steps up so that he's on the same floor where the altar is, but continues to just stand and watch.

Yuuwaku bows to the hooded man

Hooded Man easily tosses both of you off him with a wave of dark magic.

Samantha:

Sacred? Sacred? Hello? Are you MENTAL?

Yuuwaku:

Please excuse the rudeness of my companions.

Jan acks.

Samantha gacks and is thrown backward!

Galen:

well, you'll not be resurrecting the Dark lord, Shadowfall, if I have anything to say of it.

Hooded Man laughs...

Kodah snarls and leaps forward as Jan and Sam are thrown off!

Jan pulls himself up off the ground. "Ugh...

Hooded Man:

Heh, Shadowfall doesn't need resurrection. He just needs to be liberated from his prison...

Yuuwaku walks over to Sam and offers her a hand

Samantha winces, "...I'm sick of overpowered people.

Yuuwaku:

Are you alright?

Samantha takes Yuu's hand, "I'm okay.

Yuuwaku:

Galen:

not if I have anything to say about it, pal.

Hooded Man looks at the group... "Hmm... I suppose after all this time I am no longer recognized on this world...

Yuuwaku blinks

Yuuwaku looks over at Selene

Samantha:

Marcus:

Jan doesn't really care if this guy is recognized or not. :P

Yuuwaku:

It's getting dangerous, I think I'd better take you out of here.

Selene shivers and shrugs her shoulders...

Kodah glares at the man

If all of them want to endanger you, that's fine.

Hooded Man:

Let me introduce myself. I am known as Zissel...

Samantha:

Yuuwaku looks back at the man

Yuuwaku takes Selene's hand

The blue demon of Nephar in the ancient legends?

Kodah:

I'll not that on your gravestone

I can't say that I've heard of you, but then, I never studied ancient history.

Yuuwaku:

Zissel:

Heh... I can't say the feeling is mutual... But soon you all shall be as dead as the wastelands surrounding this tower.

Jan:

Zissel:

My god, Shadowfall, gets stronger by destroying life... The more life he destroys the stronger he becomes.

Yuuwaku:

Why does he want to be strong?

Galen:

as when he destroyed your home system?

Zissel:

Me, a corpse? Hmm, your senses of the undead are strong, but your interpretation may be lacking somewhat.

Galen:

Yuu, all he wishes for is to return this whole universe to a sea of chaos.

Yuuwaku:

Kodah:

It's close enough. You have the stench of the undead on you.

Galen:

that is the way of the monster race....and the way of the dark lords.

Yuuwaku:

Galen:

and the only way to defeat a dark power..is an even greater source of power..

Samantha:

I don't like the undead. I don't like your god. You won't be resurrecting him today.

Zissel:

Heh, my lord wishes to get stronger so that he may finally avenge himself upon the forces of light that imprisoned him within the forth planet of our home system eons ago.

Varemi wanders over..

Yuuwaku:

Why did the forces of light imprison him?

Yuuwaku:

Varemi, could you make sure Selene doesn't get hurt please? You're stronger than me.

Kodah:

Galen:

.o(I read about a dark lord of all dark lords..but those spells are sealed away...Why didn't I seek those out.)

Samantha:

Revenge is so petty. How about he grow a garden instead? Much more productive. Or maybe pet a kitty? Or drown himself in his own spit? He sounds creative.

Zissel:

Hmph... Enough. I grow weary of your questions.

Samantha:

Good. I'm weary of your existence.

Marcus:

The power of a god is useless if he must rely on others to help him.

Varemi slides her hands to her hips and gives Zissel a sideways tired stare with her bold green eyes.

Samantha draws her sword!

Zissel looks over at Jan. "You... You seem to have some skills in the necromantic arts... Let's see how well they compare to my skills in the field...

Yuuwaku:

What about the power of a human?

Yuuwaku blinks

Yuuwaku looks at the group and points to Zissel

Jan braces himself and calls his magic to him.

Zissel ignores Varemi.

Yuuwaku:

We're going to fight him?

Samantha:

Need a hand, Jan?

Zissel summons forth a group of 8 undead creatures!

Varemi:

Jan nods. "If you want.

Samantha:

Good. Was hoping you'd let me help. ^^

Yuuwaku groans

Zissel:

This should take care of you...

Zissel teleports away.

Kodah:

Samantha:

Least he ran.

Jan growls... "Easily handled.

Yuuwaku:

I guess we have some chance of winning now but...

We sure have been acting irresponsible.

Varemi looks over helplessly at Yuuwaku and gives him a shrug with a sort of tilt.

Galen:

we can't let this dark lord be released..

Varemi looks at the undead creatures...

Galen:

Jan, I think my astral plane attacks may help...

Marcus:

And while we are fighting these creatures, he's off doing whatever else he needs to do to bring back this "Shadowfall

Varemi:

Yuuwaku:

Could we follow someone who can teleport?

Samantha:

It can't be helped, Marcus.

Varemi:

That is true.

Varemi:

I wonder..

Varemi:

who else can help us stop him? Galen.

Varemi:

How powerful is this "Zissel"?

Galen:

Marcus, I think I know of a power that can counter Shadowfall, but it's been sealed away...

Yuuwaku:

Then we should unseal it before Zissel unseals him.

Galen:

the dark lords of this world....

Yuuwaku:

Oh wait.

Yuuwaku:

That's not a good idea.

Marcus:

A greater power isn't necessarily needed to defeat a powerful creature. Sometimes you just need to out think it.

Galen:

Yuu, their power was sealed away in talismen..as spells.

Jan:

Right, Marcus.

Varemi:

Kodah looks over the undead carefully, weighing his options

COMBAT!

4 Shadow Phantoms in front, 4 Zissel Specters in back

Varemi looks over at Marcus.

Varemi:

Actually.

Yuuwaku moves to the back row

Varemi:

I agree with that.

Varemi:

..Huh.

Jan fans out his shurikens.

Marcus occupies his usual place in the back row

Varemi looks over at the undead, at her place in the back now.

Yuuwaku stands in front of Selene, preparing to defend her with his life

Kodah:

Hmm...4 shadow phantoms in front, 4 Zissel specters in back

Samantha moves to the front row, twirling her cutlass.

Galen:

phantoms...I can deal with them with my astral attacks..

Kodah stands ready in the front row

Kodah tenses, and bright light fills his eye sockets. This light shoots straight out to either side of him, then splits to form two circular halves, forming a standing ring around his body. This ring begins to spin around him, faster and faster, until it forms a sphere of intense energy around Kodah's body.

Jan is in front, all his concentration focused on one thing; destroying the undead.

Varemi idly prepares a lower energy spell...

Varemi claps her two fists together, runes glowing indigo. She pulls her fists apart and it creates a line of light. Once again she pounds her clenches fists together as if to punctuate her spell, creating from the light a triangle. The light fades from dull indigo to a vibrant ice blue and from the symbol forms a sword of pure ice!

Varemi tosses the sword with a dainty flick of her wrist and sends the blade careening at her phantom of choice.

Zissel Specter B is hit for 121 damage and is blown out of existence!

Varemi casts Ice Sword on the altar! The blade of ice cuts it neatly in two, making the top half crumble.

Varemi shoots that big ass frosty sword at it and it slashed violently into the stone.

Samantha phews.

Jan casts $$Sharp Shot$$ and shoots for what looks like a weak spot on the bottom half.

Yuuwaku:

I want to take a piece with me as a souvenir.

Chrissy produces a case of C4, and scuttles over, laying a few charges at key weak points, trailing a thin wire.

You don't want such an evil thing dogging your steps

Jan's Sharp Shot finishes off the altar, making the rest of it crumble into debris ranging from pebble to fist-sized.

Yuuwaku:

Maybe you can blow up the tower, Chrissy.

Chrissy:

Oh, could I? I've been too good lately...

Samantha chuckles.

Kodah stands away and thinks to himself

IT would take a lot longer to build a tower than an altar

Chrissy gathers them up again, and looks for the exit back down. "I wish i had more friends like you.." ^^;

You have to be certain of the altar's destruction though, to make sure it doesn't survive the ruin of the tower.

There is no treasure in this tower... It was thoroughly looted about 2500 years ago. :P

Besides, if I took pieces of the altar and then dropped them in random places, he'd have a hard time putting it back together.

Samantha follows the others quietly.

I want to throw one in the ocean.

Chrissy wastes no time in trying to put the charges upon the tower's key supports as best she can, grinning a little evilly.

Samantha:

. o O ( I wonder why Zissel was so quick to leave this altar....he seemed strong enough...why didn't he just take us down? )

Yuuwaku:

And I could bury one in a hole in the ground.

Varemi:

And then I could put one on top of a mountain.

Okay. Blowing things up is one thing. Talking about holes in the ground is another matter entirely

After a few quick dashes down the stairs, you find yourselves outside the ruined tower.

When I fight the undead I always make certain I destroy things like that along with them.

As you walk towards the city of Drachenburg, small flowers, suppressed for who knows how many years by the evil, just barely begin poking out of the Earth... :P
