Background / Hometown Marcus comes from the ancient Terran city of Chicago. His childhood was rather normal although he was a particularly strong-willed. He was very likely to form strong opinions and stick by them. So it came as no surprise to his family that Marcus stopped going to services at the Church of Lucia. Marcus had never been overly enthusiastic about the Church and it came upon him one day that the Church only serves as a crutch for the weak-willed and that the Church takes advantage of it. He believes the people should make their own path in life and not follow the dictates of men in robes and a goddess half-removed from the people. Aside from his strong will, which may times turned into outright stubbornness, Marcus developed excellent skills with hand weapons from Blue Dragon Technologies. He became quite a marksman. It turned out that Marcus’ strong will was the only thing that saved his life. You see, Marcus is a latent telepath. For most of his life, Marcus was completely oblivious of his talent. You can envision Marcus’ telepathic talents as laying behind a dam in his mind. By around the time he was 17, leaks in that dam formed and Marcus’ talent started to manifest itself. It took awhile, but Marcus finally realized what was going on. Not being the most moral person in the world, Marcus decided to explore his talent. His strong will lead to arrogance; he didn’t believe that he needed anyone else to teach him how to use his talent. He’d scan minds and listen in on dreams all the time.

Marcus would pay for his arrogance. The more you prod at a cracked dam, the more it tends to weaken. By both the reckless use of his talent and the lack of a guide, the dam broke and the thoughts and feelings of thousands upon thousands of minds flooded into Marcus. Needless to say, he was reduced to convulsions and screaming fits and his family had to have him committed. By the strength of his will alone, Marcus retained one shred of his mind. With that, he was able to start rebuilding his mind, piece by piece. After about two months, all symptoms of the break were gone and the doctors had to let him go even if they were dumfounded by his recovery. Marcus was smart enough not to tell anybody about his talents and lucky not to rave about them during his time of madness.

Such an event never fails to change a person. Marcus most certainly became more humble and gained a far deeper respect for his abilities. He also became far more philosophical in nature, but something far more interesting appeared. While rebuilding his mind, Marcus crossed a few "wires" which surprisingly resulted in telekinetic abilities. Unfortunately, his control over these abilities is not so great. When his mind becomes overwhelmed by the thoughts of others, he sometimes loses control of his telekinetic abilities.

Personality / Demeanor

As was said before, Marcus has a strong will. And he tends to hold himself above others at times. He looks down upon wishy-washy people who have no real will of their own. He has little tolerance for people who complain constantly because of things that happen to them and people who blindly follow others.

Although Marcus has a philosophical side, this does not translate into the calm, serene Zen Buddhist many people think of. No, Marcus can be quite emotional at times and his temper can flare up when other people don’t see and understand things as easily as he does.

Motivation / Goals

Marcus has always said that he will find his own way in life, and not one dictated to him. So the question comes up, what can he do? Well, first and foremost, he’d like to find out more about his telepathic and telekinetic abilities. He knows that he cannot be the only one to have these talents and there must be someone else out there who knows more about these talents. But after that, who knows. He’s always said he’ll make his own path in life, but he has yet to decide what that path will be. Life is a journey to find oneself and Marcus has yet to find himself.

Profession / Occupation

It’s a shame to be a telepath and not be able to capitalize on it. He could try blackmail, but Marcus has a few more scruples than that. So, what is man with secret telepathic abilities to do?

Why, he works with animals of course. Animals, what the hell do animals have to do with it you may ask. Well, working with animals is very relaxing to a telepath. Their simple, straightforward minds consist of a few basic thoughts: eat, sleep, have sex, and defend my territory and / or young. He works with group of freelance animal photographers that go around the world. This works to his advantage since if he ever is to find another telepath; odds are he will more likely find one in a remote area. It’s kind of ironic that he is in San Diego, one of the larger cities on the planet because of rumors of a mind reader being in the city. Now, most of these rumors turn up as being just some con artist trying to take people’s money but this one sounded like it had something more.

Appearance / Mannerisms

He’s about 28/29 by the time of the game. I haven’t quite decided what he should look like yet.
