---The summoned monsters at the feet of Isis, Eomar, and Bulix fade
away into dust with an eerie cool breeze. The handsome armored
commander at the far end of the chamber stares at you with piercing
cold eyes. His personal bodyguards appear to be monstrous
black-skinned soldiers and mystics, like the ones Eomar and Bulix
have encountered in the Frontier.---
Commander: "I am commander Nar, leader of the Vile Tribe. What are you
doing here?"
Isis: "We're taking over your little operation...."
Nar: "Hmm... I will not allow that. Although we have corrupted the
magic of this world long enough to acheive our goal, I am not ready
to give up Vane to the likes of you."
Eomar: "To achieve your goal? I wouldn't be so confident..."
* Nar raises a hand and motions his bodyguards to break off and
attack. "Make sure this is the last minute of their lives."
---Three Vile Troopers in front. Two Shadow Mages in back.---

An intense jet of water blasts Vile Trooper A and slams him

---Meanwhile, Lou, Miko, and Ebony find that Silver Spire seems eerily
silent. The loud shuffling and noise from outside has died down.---
* Miko is sitting on the edge of the fountain, watching Ebony as he
situates himself on Althena's head.
* Ebony waves from his vantage point.
Lou: "So, shall we continue trying to get out of this joint? We seem to
all healed up right now anyway."
---"Mufata... Uh?... Goon goo!"---
Lou: "What the heck is that!?"
---"GOON GO! DAK'TAK!"---
* Ebony flutters protectively over to Miko.
---You see a robed black figure walk up from the stairs leading to the
ground floor. It is similar to the vile tribesman you saw on the
top floor.---
* Lou draws his sword. "Oh great! Here we go again..."
---The figure raises a hand and four troopers follow him. He stops to
let them take a leading position. Four troopers in front, one shadow
mage in back. ---
Shadow Mage: "DAK'TAK!"
Lou: "You know, these Viles are even dumber than Beavis and Butthead...
These can't even talk right!"
* Miko wonders if Ebony and Lou can talk their way out of *this*
fight...
Ebony: "Didn't work last time."
Lou: "Well, it may have distracted them a bit, though."
* Miko suggests as she prepares for the forthcoming battle, "Ebony,
it's always worth a try."
Ebony: "Hey guys, who wants nachos!?!"
Lou: "These nachos are like free and stuff, too! They come with a free
dirty magazine!"
Ebony: "Yeah yeah, uh huh huh..."
Lou: "They, like, rule and stuff!"
* Miko cannot help but laugh at her friends in spite of the impending
danger.
* Lou always laughs in the face of danger!
Ebony: "Hey, you all... Todd wouldn't want you to attack us..."
Lou: "Yeah, cause we're, like, in Todd's gang and stuff. If you leave
us alone, Todd won't kick your ass!"
* Miko asks her friends, "Who's 'Todd'? I didn't know we were in his
'gang'..."
* Ebony is at a loss to explain that to Miko.
* Lou whispers to Miko, "It's just Vile talk. Don't worry about it.
Todd's gang is a group that every Vile aspires to join for whatever
reason."
* Miko seems impressed by Lou's knowledge of their world.
Lou: "Hey, Alex used to tell lots of stories at the Goddess festivals.
You tend to pick stuff up when people do that!"
* Ebony files his claws sharper. "Do de dum do de..."
Ebony uses Throat Gash level 5! Shadow Mage suffers 7 damage.
Shadow Mage is muted.
Ebony: "Let's see you yell 'daktak' now!"
Shadow Mage: "Dk.... .... ...."
Lou: "Nice work, Ebony! Now I'll finish the job!"
Lou rubs his hands together, then points his palms at the
Shadow Mage. A huge arc of flame engulfs the wizard!
Shadow Mage suffers 41 damage.
Lou: "Hehehehe, fire! fire! fire! fire!"
Miko casts Blur Litany level 3!
Lou's form is muddled and distorted.
Lou's Dodge% is boosted by 23.
Lou: "Thanks, Miko!"
Vile Trooper A hacks at Lou! His axe hacks into Lou's tall shield.
Vile Trooper B slashes at Ebony! Ebony is sliced for 11 damage.
* Lou winces at the sight of that
Vile Trooper hacks at Miko!
Miko is gashed across the shoulder. 15 damage.
Lou: "Miko!!!"
Vile Trooper D attacks Ebony!
Ebony instinctively floats above the axe.
* Ebony sticks out his tounge at the trooper.
Shadow Mage advances into the front row.
Lou: "Okay, how's everyone doing healthwise?"
* Ebony puts a official LuNar band-aid over his cut. "I'm still all
right."
* Miko looks to Lou as if she is not too bad off.
* Lou is relieved that Miko is okay.
Ebony: "Hey, Lou..."
Lou: "Yeah, Eb?"
Ebony: "Maybe if you do your 'attack everyone bit', it will weaken them
enough that some fire will kill them."
Lou: "Ebony, that's just what I had in mind. Dammit! This ring must
allow you to tap into my thoughts or something!"
Ebony: "I've just lost enough blood on this adventure for a blood
bank."
Lou: "Thank goddess for her statues then, huh?"
Ebony: "Sure, next time I see her."
Lou: "Hehehe..."
* Miko runs over to Ebony. "Ebony, are you sure you're okay? Where are
you hurt?"
* Ebony puts a wing over the cut in his side so he won't worry Miko.
"Yeah, I'm okay..."
Lou: "I'm still okay here. Good thing I picked up this shield back in
Nanza!"
Ebony: "I wish there were more stuff I could use. Sometimes I almost
wish I were human... ALMOST!"
Lou: "Well, once you grow up though, Ebony, I don't think you'd need
them."
Ebony: "Oh..? think these guys would take an IOU for a century or so?"
Lou: "Probably not..."
Miko: "Lou, what is Ebony going to look like when he grows up? The
same... Only bigger..?"
Lou: "Umm, I'm not sure, Miko. I never saw a full grown dragon, only
Ebony, Azura, and Nall, and they are still young ones."
Ebony: "I'll probably look like the statue."
* Miko looks disappointed, probably because she has not seen the
statue...
Lou: "Miko, maybe we'll see another one some time... We gotta find
Alex, assuming we can save Vane first, of course, and if your Village
is okay, you're gonna help us, right?"
* Miko looks over to Lou. "I... I... Lou... Yes... I... am."
Lou: "Thanks, Miko!"
Miko: "Lou, I just have to help Sebastian first. When he's okay, I'll
help you..."
Lou: "I understand, Miko."
Ebony: "My father said we have to look for Alex right away, and Mia
said magic can't help people with this disease... So either we fix
Vane, and that fixes the disease or there's nothing we can do to
help him."
Miko: "Ebony, There must be something we can do. I'll never give up."
Ebony: "We have to stop what is causing the sickness, Miko."
Miko: "Ebony, yes, and we will! I know we will!"
Lou: "Well Ebony, hopefully fixing Vane will end the storms so we can
start searching Caldor Isle, too. Miko, if you're not with us when
Ebony and I get to Caldor, I'll be sure to ask Nall, if Sebastian
isn't okay yet, if he knows a way."
* Miko looks at Lou. "Thanks, Lou. You're always thinking of others."
Lou: "Anytime, Miko, and thanks yourself..."
* Ebony thinks it's nice of these guys to let us have side
conversations in between attacks.
Lou: "I think they're distracted by that dirty magazine I threw at
them."
Ebony uses Eye Shot level 3 Vile Trooper D suffers 2 damage.
Vile Trooper D is blind.
Lou uses Wide Slash level 7! Vile Trooper A suffers 19.
B suffers 21. C suffers 22. D suffers 18. Shadow Mage suffers 27.
Miko casts Blur Litany level 3! Miko's Dodge% is boosted by 22.
Vile Trooper A attacks Miko!
The trooper's axe slams the ground beside Miko's form.
Vile Trooper B attacks Lou! Lou is hit for 9 damage.
Vile Trooper C attacks Ebony!
Ebony deftly swoops under the swinging axe.
Vile Trooper D attacks Lou! The attack misses.
Shadow Mage swings his cane at Miko! Hit! 2 damage.
* Miko looks over at the Viles and makes a face at the one that slapped
her with a cane.
* Ebony shakes his booty in the bad guys' general direction.
* Miko smiles at Ebony.
* Ebony pauses. "Aww geeze, I'm starting at act like Azura!"
Miko: "Ebony, you did look kind of like Azura when you were dancing,
and you said you couldn't dance!"
* Ebony grins. "That wasn't dancing... That was mocking."
Miko: "Ebony, now that I have thought about it... I'm glad I never
said goodbye to Azura, because that would have implied that I never
would have seen her again."
* Ebony looks around. "Where's Lou?"
* Miko looks about for Lou. "Ebony, where did he go..? I didn't
notice..."
Ebony: "I bet he ran over to look at the dirty magizine with the
Viles!"
* Miko looks suprised... "Really? A dirty magazine..? Ohhh... Is that
what he bought with the 'dirty money' they got in Pao..?"
Ebony: "Um... Gimme a V! Gimme an I! Gimme an L! Gimme an E! What's
that spell? You don't know becuase you all can't read! Ha ha ha ha!!"
Miko: "Ebony, Vee Eye Ell Eee?"
Ebony: "I guess I can't complain since I can't read either..."
* Miko seems to be favoring the ankle that got slapped with a cane.
* Ebony wishes Lou would get his Dragonmaster Wanna-be butt back here.
Ebony uses Eye Shot level 3! Vile Trooper B is hit for 4 damage.
Vile Trooper B is blinded.
Vile Trooper: "Ahhh! Waaaaa!"
Lou: "Hehe."

Miko's hands are surrounded with an eerie orange flame.
Lou: "Uh oh, time for Miko to light up the battlefield!"
The room heats up as she leans forward on one foot and opens
her palms at Vile Trooper C.
A wide burst of flame surrounds and scorches the monster.
63 damage.
Lou: "Is it just me, or are these guys a lot tougher than last time?"
Vile Trooper A attacks Ebony! The attack misses.
Vile Trooper B attacks Miko! The attack misss.
Vile Trooper C attacks Lou!
* Lou tries to parry the blow with his shield.
Hit! Lou suffers 12 damage.
Lou: "Ouch..."
Vile Trooper D attacks Lou!
The attack comes nowhere near its target.
Lou: "Ha ha, you missed!"
Shadow Mage retreated!
Ebony: "What?? Wuss!!"
Lou: "Wuss! Todd's never gonna let you join his gang now!"
* Ebony digs in his inventory for something to distract the Viles.
* Lou tosses the Vile Tribesmen another dirty magazine from Dross' to
keep them occupied.
* Ebony tosses an issue of Playcat at them.
Lou: "Playcat? Hehehe... Wouldn't PlayDragon be better for you, Eb?
I hear Ruby's nude in the latest issue!"
Ebony: "Ruby's ALWAYS nude..."
Lou: "Good point."
* Lou tosses another issue of PetHouse at the Viles. "Good thing Viles
don't care what species they stare at, huh, Eb?"
* Miko seems more confident now than in the last battle with the Vile
Tribe.
Lou: "Good to see that confidence of yours building, Miko!"
* Miko turns to Lou. "Lou, thanks... I used to think that fighting was
stupid and wrong... but 'Stupid' isn't 'fighting'... 'Stupid' is
'giving up'! ...and any dream worth having is one worth fighting
for!"
Lou: "You're welcome Miko, and that's the spirit! Fighting is wrong
only when it's not just, but when the cause is right, so's the
fighting!"
Ebony: "Wow! That's profound, Miko!"
* Miko looks somewhat embarassed. "Ebony... really..?"
Ebony uses Deep Scratch level 5!
Vile Trooper A suffers 32 damage.
Lou uses Blade Anger level 7!
Vile Trooper A suffers 22 damage! B suffers 18. C suffers 19.
D suffers 18. Vile Trooper C is defeated!
Lou: "Yes! Another bites the dust!"
Miko's fiery gaze at Vile Trooper C seems disappointed that
he's on the ground bleeding, so she turns her flickering hot
fingers to Vile Trooper D, holding up her hands and emitting a
blazing cloud of searing flame. 67 damage.
Vile Trooper D is defeated!
Lou: "Another one down!"
Vile Trooper A attacks Miko!
Lou: "Careful, Miko!"
Miko is hit for 13 damage.
* Lou winces.
Vile Trooper B attacks Lou!
* Lou raises his shield, trying to block the attack.
The attack misses.
Lou: "Hehehehehe... Nice aim you got there!"
Ebony: "He's blind, Lou, thanks to moi."
Lou: "Hehe, that eye gouge spell sure comes in handy!"
Ebony: "Eye Shot! Get it right!"
Lou: "Sorry... Heheh, my mistake..."
* Ebony retrives his Playcat before they mess it all up.
Lou: "Besides, they can't see it anyway."
Ebony: "You okay, Miko?"
* Miko looks up from her self-absorbed state. "Ebony... yes. I'm okay.
Thank you. I'm just... thinking."
Lou: "Penny for your thoughts, Miko... What are you thinking about?"
Miko: "Lou, thanks... I was thinking about Sebastian... Hoping he will
be okay."
Lou: "Don't worry, Miko. He will be... I can feel it..."
Miko: "Lou, I belive that, too..."
Lou: "You gotta belive all right, Miko."
Ebony: "George, George, George of the jungle!"
Lou: "Where did that come from? Heheh..."
Ebony: "The Cartoon Network."
Lou: "You watchin' that right now?"
* Ebony puts his portable TV aside as he returns to the battle.
Lou: "Where did you get one of those, Ebony? Hehehe... Myght's?"
Ebony: "Dragon secret..."
Lou: "Okay, whatever."
Ebony makes a vicious diving slash attack against Vile Trooper A.

Lou uses Wide Slash level 7! A suffers 16. B suffers 20.
Vile Trooper A is defeated!
Lou: "Yes, one more down!"
Miko closes her eyes and raises a hand to Vile Trooper B.
Vile Trooper B is surrounded in a pale blue aura.
The aura gently moves over to Miko and is absorbed into her body.
Vile Trooper B suffers 18 damage. Miko recovers 18 HP.
Vile Trooper B retreats! Victory!
Each player gainst 8 XP. The group receives 40 S and 180 MEXP
Lou: "Yes!!!!!!!! So team, shall we trudge on to join the others?"
---The monsters bodies lay strewn at your feet and those that escaped
were severely wounded.---
Lou: "Whew, was it just me, or were things easier this time?"
Ebony: "Well, I got rid of the mage right away..."
Lou: "That's the way to do it, Ebony... Those things are the worst!"
Ebony: "Last time you lost your attacks..."
Lou: "Yeah! Fortunately I could get by with just my sword, but if we
lost Miko and her healing magic, we'd be screwed!"
Ebony: "Shouldn't we be moving on?"
Lou: "Yeah, but it's slow trying to step over all these dead bodies...
Miko, you still okay there?"
Miko: "Lou, I'm fine. Thanks."
Lou: "Just checkin', Miko."
Ebony: "I'm okay..."
Miko: "Ebony, are you sure? I thought you were bleeding..."
Ebony: "Not that bad, Miko... I just hope we don't run into any bad
guys."
Lou: "Well, we could use a statue of Althena soon."
Miko: "I hope the others are okay, too."
Lou: "Me, too... they probably need our help ASAP."
Ebony: "We'll go find them soon, Miko."
Lou: "So, the stairs are off in that direction? Let's press on!"
* Miko follows Lou to the stairs, inviting Ebony to ride on her
shoulder.
* Ebony gladly exceps Miko's offer, keeping his wing over his cut.
Lou: "You sure that cut there is okay?"
Ebony: "Yeah, fine."
Miko: "Now are you two sure you're all right..?"
Ebony: "It's just a scratch, Miko."
* Lou then winces at his own wounds... trying not to think of them.
"Well, I'll be okay until we find a statue or something I think,
Miko."
* Miko seems relatively healthy as well, but continues to favor her
right ankle.
Lou: "So, Miko, you sure that ankle is okay?"
Miko: "Lou, I'm sure it will be... I've hurt it worse before... It's
always the stupid little things that bother you the most
sometimes..."
* Lou winces. "No kidding..."
Miko: "If Iceberg were here, maybe he'd make me some ice to help with
the swelling..."
Lou: "Too bad about the only thing we can do, Miko, is maybe a hot
compress... Not sure if that would be good for swelling though..."
Ebony: "I hope this mirror is worth all this!"
---Althena's Mirror shines with a mystical radiance. The object appears
to be of a very magical origin. The stairs descending to the ground
floor beckon...---
Lou: "Let's head on down, then."
* Ebony points with a paw. "Let's go!"
* Miko limps down the stairs behind Lou.
Miko: "Ebony, I hope you don't mind a bumpy ride."
Ebony: "Just think of me, Miko. Sometimes I have to fly with hurt wings.
An ankle can't be that bad."
Miko: "Ebony, you never have to fly with hurt wings... I'll carry you.
All you have to do is ask me."
Ebony: "That's nice, Miko... I wish I could offer you a ride."
Lou: "Damn! How long are these stupid stairs? How much further do you
guys think we've got to go to catch up to the others?"
---The ground floor lies before you, an open room of silver tiling
and magnificent tapestries.---
Lou: "Whoa, this place is amazing!"
* Ebony looks around. "Pretty..."
* Miko looks at the tapestries, wondering if there are pictures on
them...
* Lou stares at a particular tapestry, depicting battles of long
ago.
* Ebony is more worried about the rest of his friends than some hanging
rugs.
* Miko looks at Lou's tapestry. "Lou, do you know who these people
are..?"
Lou: "I'm not sure... It looks like it took way long before our time."
Miko: "Oh... Okay, Lou."
---The tapestries are vague at best, but seem to depict creatures,
magic, goddesses, and worlds.---
Lou: "That world doesn't even look like ours..."
---The wide gate exiting the spire is seen across the chamber. It
seems dimly lit for this time of day.---
Miko: "Look! We made it!"
Ebony: "Let's go down... or is that... up?"
Lou: "Let's go!"
* Miko runs down the stairs.
---As you approach the gate, you see the steps leading down to the
grassy ground of Vane's island.---
* Miko arrives outside and looks around.
---A wave of vertigo hits the group as they look up to the sky and
see the ground above them. The group in encompassed in shadow.---
* Lou tries to get his bearings. "Trippy, man..."
* Miko looks up, shrieks, and falls to the ground, digging her nails
into the dirt. "This is... impossible!"
* Ebony looks 'up'... at the ground. "Wow... Talk about vertigo..."
Lou: "Even in its current condition, Vane still has a majesty you
can't describe..."
Miko: "Why don't we fall? What's holding us here?"
Ebony: "That spell that the Vane types cast on us."
Lou: "Yep."
Ebony: "Hope that spell lasts..."
Lou: "Me, too... Whoa... This is way too trippy..."
* Miko has her eyes completely closed and is still clutching at the
ground. "Ebony... Tell me when it's normal."
Ebony: "I'm afriad it won't be until we finish our job, Miko."
Lou: "Miko, it won't be normal until we save this city."
Miko: "You mean... ... We have to... walk around upside down..?!"
Lou: "Apparently, Miko, but only until Vane is restored."
Ebony: "Just don't look up... errr down..."
Lou: "Just look straight ahead."
* Miko looks upset as she crawls toward Lou and stands up, hanging
onto his sleeve.
* Lou smiles at Miko, hoping to make her feel a bit more at ease.
---Far across this grass field, you see a short building with a dark
opening. You can only assume it leads to the cavern inside Vane
island. Tall buildings and academies tower over you.---
Lou: "Let's head towards that opening there. I think that'll lead us
to the trial cave. You sure you'll be okay, Miko?"
* Miko follows along, hanging onto Lou's sleeve. "Lou, every time I
start to get used to something... Something even weirder happens...
Is this world always like this..?"
Lou: "Miko, I don't know... I haven't been here any longer than you.
This world is supposed to be full of mystery, though."
Ebony: "Let's get over there... That looks like the way to the trial
cave... Then you'll be okay, Miko..."
Lou: "Once we're in the cave, hopefully, it'll be less disorienting."
---You hear a faint shrieking coming from the 'sky'... Like a hundred
shrill voices screaming in unison...---
Lou: "What's that???"
* Miko doesn't look toward the shrieking. "Can you see anything? What
is it?"
* Ebony looks um... down.
* Lou shakes his head and finally gets his bearings. He looks
up/down/whatever as well.
Lou: "I can't see it clearly.. Can you, Ebony?"
Ebony: "I don't know..."
---Over the horizon, you can make out a wave of tiny black specks
from all angles. The mad high-pitched cacklings get louder and
louder as the black figures around you get closer and closer.
Soon, you realize you are completely surrounded by a mob of black
flying creatures, from all around, and above you. The creatures
begin to descend by the dozens from the 'sky'.---
Lou: "Oh crap... This is gonna suck... Isn't it, Ebony?"
Ebony: "I'm afraid it will... Um... make a break for the cave!"
Lou: "Let's run for it!!!!"
---The entrance to the cavern is roughly 100 meters away...---
* Miko scampers for the cave.
* Lou picks Miko up as his ankles are good and carries her to the
cave. "Sorry about this, Miko, but I think a bad ankle isn't a good
thing to have right now!"
* Miko is thankful that now she doesn't have to look. "Lou, thank
you!"
Lou: "Anytime, Miko!"
* Ebony holds onto Miko.

Lou: "Whew!!! We made it... for now. I think we better not stay still,
though... those guys could be right on our tails. Is everyone okay?"
* Ebony looks back. "Oh yeah. Great."
Lou: "What about you, Miko?"
* Miko looks up at Lou and smiles despite her discomfort. "Lou, much
better."
* Lou smiles back at Miko... "Good to hear that."
Miko: "At least it's pretty normal in here... I think..."
Lou: "Well, at least you don't have any funky views messing up your
head."
Ebony: "Less talk, more fleeing for our lives!"
---The shining light from Althena's Mirror illuminates the dark
passage along with wall mounted lamps.---
Lou: "Okay, I wonder where the rest of the crew is down here..."

---The monsters at the feet of Thesian, Davis, and Iceberg seem to fade
away with the cool breeze that blows through the eerie Cave of Trial.
They hear grumbling from all around them. The cave doesn't seem quite
empty... All of a sudden, four Flame Salamanders descend upon the
group! A spinning Dust Devil is behind them.---

~Iceberg: "I can lead you all to the opposite stairs, which can take
us to the Crystal Tower. I know the path well, but I'm not sure if
this cave is entirely safe. We should still be careful."
Ebony: "Then lead away, Points."
Lou: "Thanks, Ice. Let's go for it! We can't go too slow either. We
got half the rest of the Vile Tribe on our butts!"
---Iceberg uses his cane as a walking stick and leads the group
through the twisting passages. The howling wind from outside
makes an eerie sound throughout the rock formations here."
Lou: "This is way too spooky..."

Nar: "Friends, eh? Well, they don't seem to be much help to you right
now. Are you truly relying on them?"

* Nar stands perfectly still from across the chamber. He lays his

* Bulix cracks his knuckles, and whispers back, "Hey.. if we make him
mad, he'll screw up.. or something like that..."
Nar: "So do you really want to see how powerful you pathetic humans
are? I will be glad to enlighten you as to how weak you are under
that frail skin of yours."
Isis: "Hey.. I wear armor!"
* Bulix gives Nar the one fingered salute.
---With a loud echoing 'shing', Nar unsheathes his broadsword. He
points it at the group and slowly steps toward the group.---

---It is almost hard to concentrate on Nar with the glittering
brilliance of this dark chamber around you. The walls and scenery

---There is a thick black cloud of creatures 'above' you.---
* Thesian looks up. "Huh?"
Lou: "Oh crap, here we go again! Bust a move team! Run for it, guys!!!"
* Davis does as Lou says.
* Thesian moves along.
* Miko dashes after Lou once again... Limping... but quickly enough.
Lou: "Miko, that ankle still hurt?"
Davis: "Oh, great..."
* Lou picks Miko up again and carries her. "Sorry to do this again,
Miko... Not sure you can run fast enough with a limp..."
Miko: "Ahh! Thanks, Lou..."

* Ebony hangs on and gets some blood on Miko's outfit.
* Miko unfortunately does not notice the one additional bloodstain.
---The trip to the gate is mercifully short. The group swiftly dashes
inside. As soon as everyone is safely inside, the peltings of tiny
javelins are heard bombarding the door frame.---
Lou: "Don't those Viles ever give up?"
Lou: "Okay, how many floors does this thing have?"
Ebony: "How should *I* know?"
Davis: "Ummm, moving really fast, helps like right NOW!"
Lou: "Okay, team, let's bust a move!"

---This place is even more beautiful than the silver spire. The walls
are composed of shining violet glass. There is a staircase leading
up at the far end of this entrance chamber, and a small lacquer box
in the center of the chamber.---
* Miko prepares to follow where Iceberg is leading... But until he
does, she looks around the chamber as if nothing much is wrong.
Ebony: "Wow, this place is ever more beuatiful than the silver spire!"
Lou: "I don't think we have time to sight see... However, should we
check the box out?"
Ebony: "Get to it, boy!"
Davis: "A box? Can anyone here check it out?"

* Eomar mentions to Bulix the health side-effects of cracking knuckles
improperly.
* Nar begins to grumble. He backs himself up against the wall and opens
his arms wide.

---The room becomes dimmer and Nar's groaning takes a very low ominous

* Nar appears to be growing in size. He begins to drip icky fluids and
his tissues bulge from all over... "Cower... in fear! As I demonstrate

* Nar's monstrous brute form appears to be separating and sliding off
of his form as well, making a thin scaly outer skin... The outer shell
of his second form makes slimy noises as it slips off and crumples up
next to the horrific skin of his first humanoid form. The noises
coming from Nar are dreadful...

---The stairs before the others lead up. The tunnel is very dark and
mysterious and gives the tower a massive atmosphere to it. They can
see darkness and flickering lights up ahead. The room they see at
the top of these stairs is magnificent. ---
Ebony: "Wow, the chamber I see at the top of these stairs is
magnificent!"
~Iceberg: "I don't believe it! The Star Chamber! I've always wanted to
see this place..."
Lou: "Whoa, I've never seen anything like that... but I sense
something not so good..."
---It is a dark room of soft pink lighting with shining tiles on the
floor. The ceiling appears to be a constellation chart. Faint
lights glitter all around. To the right, you see Bulix, Eomar,
and Isis breathing heavily, wounded. To the left, you see a
hideous sight. On the floor is a pile of crinkled up serpentine
shed skins. One is of a humanoid figure, the other of a massive
ogre figure. A tall, towering, dreadful figure stands over the
shed skins.---
* Thesian stares at the towering figue.
---The figure has an alien appearance, with elongated shoulderblades,
a sloping head, and four claw wielding limbs, supported on a narrow,
but hard frame.---
Lou: "What the heck is that!?"
Eomar: "Hey, we could use your help over here!!!"
Lou: "Ask and ye shall receive!"
* Bulix glances over in relief. "Nice to see you.. Took you long
enough!"
Nar: "HA HA HA HA HA! Yessssss. Yes..... more pathetic, weak-skinned
creatures to be sacrificed to me...."
Ebony: "Am not!"
Lou: "I don't think so, tall dark and gruesome!"
* Bulix slips back into a fighting stance.
* Eomar is just perpetually in fighting stance..
Lou: "Okay, so tell me about what's going on here, guys? Who's the big,
ugly one?
Davis: "Anyone feel like double-toasting this guy, then sending it
into deep freeze?"
Lou: "Sounds like my kind of idea, Davis!"
Davis: "Ice, you're the key. It's your call."
~Iceberg: "You... you've defiled Vane, you monster!"
Davis: "Yep, I think he called yes."
* Thesian flips a Star Light in his palm. "Guess I'm gonna have to use

* Davis is about to get up when he remembers, that hurts...
Lou: "So, everyone okay here?"
* Ebony hurries over to check on Miko. "Miko... are you all right?"
Miko: "Ebony, sure. How about you?"
* Ebony smiles at her. "I'm okay, Miko... Thanks to your healing."
* Miko smiles at Ebony.
* Ebony whispers, "Pssst, Bulix, the battle's over. You wake up now."
* Miko wonders if Bulix is all right. She checks for a pulse.
* Thesian thinks Bulix is not quite dead yet.
* Bulix umms. "I'm not dead, Miko."
* Lou hands Ice Althena's Mirror. "Okay, Ice, here's the mirror. Do
your thing."
* ~Iceberg steps into the center of the Star Chamber. His hands are
shaking.
Lou: "You can do it, Ice..."
Thesian: "Come on, Iceberg..."
* Ebony watches from Miko's shoulder.
* Isis grins at the anticipation of Iceberg's next move.
* ~Iceberg holds the mirror in his hands. He kneels down on one knee,
looks into the mirror, and begins the prayer of Niviria. Iceberg
mutters some phrases under his breath.
* Ebony cocks his ears forward to listen to Ice.
* Miko watches quietly and curiously.
---The mirror quivers and glows beneath the star chart on the
ceiling. The group feels an insistent force pulling them to the
left wall.---
Lou: "What the... .... .....?"
Davis: "Hold on........"
---Miko stumbles over and rolls over to the wall.---
* Ebony falls off Miko and hovers.
* Miko claws at the wall. "Not again....!"
Lou: "I hope Ice knows what he's doing..."
---Thesian and Lou fall over and roll over to the wall, too. Iceberg
stays firm in his place muttering increasingly forceful
incantations.---
* Bulix was near the right wall, so goes flying across the room. "Augh!"
* Isis tries to hold on to Eomar, who has a firm grip on a door
handle.
Ebony: "Uh oh... I think the island is turning..."
Davis: "Ebony, yeah."
Thesian: "Vane... It's tipping back over..."
Lou: "You know, that could explain it, all right..."
Ebony: "What happened to that darn gravity spell?"
---An instant flash of light from the mirror. The entire room is
saturated in white light. You all instinctively close your
eyes.---
* Ebony turns away from the light. "Eek!"
* Isis tightly shuts her eyes away from the blinding light.
Thesian: "Ahh! I'm blind! I can't see..."
Ebony: "At least its not my fault this time, Thesian."
Lou: "Dammit, I knew I should've brought my sunglasses..."
Bulix: "Thiiiis suuucks..."
* Thesian peeks, the light still blinding. "Ahhh! Still can't
see..."
---The light doesn't seem to show any signs of abatement... The feeling
of disorientation and imbalance increases...---
* Bulix ends up rolling all over the place.
* Ebony is finding it hard to keep to the air
* Davis grabs onto anything to support him.
* Isis feels like she's going to puke.. "Urp!"
* Miko hears Isis making funny sounds and tries to move away from her.
Lou: "You okay there, Isis?"
Isis: "Yeah.. I think it'll pass.. the right way.."
Lou: "Okay, anyone here have Pepto Litany for Isis?!"
---You all seem to reach a state of tranquility through this shock,
though... ... and gradually come to open your eyes.---
* Ebony blinks the spots from his eyes and looks around.
* Davis gets up slowly.
* Bulix shakes his head, to clear it. "I swear, I've seen enough magic
to last me a few years."
---You are all standing on a stone cobblestone circle in the center
of Vane. You look up to the sky and see endless blue and clouds,
and a bright sun. Iceberg is in the very center, unconscious.---
* Isis stares in wonderment.
Lou: "Did we... Did we do it???"
Ebony: "How... did we get here?"
Isis: "Escapipe!"
Lou: "Hehehehe... We did it!!!!!"
* Thesian looks up into the bright blue sky.
Lou: "Ice! You okay there!?"
* Bulix stands up groggily. "Huh.. wha... ICE!"
* Miko runs over and starts nudging Iceberg. "Iceberg? Como estas?"
~Iceberg: "Mff... mmm... huh?"
---You see hundreds upon hundreds of black creatures retreating in a
mass exodus from the bright light surrounding the entire island.
In fact, there seems to be no trace of any remaining creatures as
you all can watch the ominous black mass retreating over the
horizon.---
Lou: "Look! The Viles are fleeing!"
Isis: "Good magic is making them retreat!"
Davis: "That looks familiar... Gee, the Vile tribe sure do seem to not
like to stick, around huh?"
Lou: "Didn't this happen, oh, about 10 years ago?"
* Ebony calls, "That's right! Run away!"
Thesian: "Run away! Run away!"
Lou: "Yeah, get out of here before I make more luggage out of you!"
Ebony: "Lou you just stay away from me while you're on this luggage
kick!"
Lou: "Don't worry, Ebony. Dragons are a protected species. It's
illegal to make suitcases out of them. Now Viles on the other
hand... Hehe..."
* Isis does a little victory dance "We did it! We did it...
Lalalalalala.."
---It is done. You managed to force the vile regiment away and remove
their corrupting influence on the focal magic center of Vane.
Somehow you can sense that things are improving.... The atmosphere
around you seems more tranquil and pure.---
* Thesian watches them go. "Somehow, I feel this is only the beginning

still gotta find Alex. I wonder if the disease has been whipped?"
* Isis and Thesian still have to figure out this thunder stuff, and
find Azura again.
Thesian: "Yes..."
Ebony: "Yes..."
* Isis takes a big gasp of air and breathes it out slowly.. "Well..
What next?"
Davis: "So from here we go south.... and that's it. Huh, Meribia isn't
very far at all."
* Miko runs over to Davis. "Yes! Let's go now, Davis!"
Isis: "I wonder how Miko's brother is doing.."
* Davis points to Miko. "Yeah, remember her brother?"
Lou: "From Meribia, Eb and I take a boat to Caldor. Right, Ebony?"
* Ebony is quiet.
Lou: "You okay, Eb?"
---From the center of the pad, the figures of Mia, Nash, Rimzol,
Lemia, and Semila appear.---
* Bulix waves, still rather groggily, to the weird magician-types.
* Miko rushes over to check on Semila.
* Ebony quietly follows Miko.
Rimzol: "Why... I don't believe it!"
Lou: "Hi! Is Semila feeling better?"
Rimzol: "Oh, the questions already! What you people must have been
through."
Lou: "Well, Nar was a tough cookie, but thanks to your help and the
mirror, we toasted him good. Beat him with poison of all things!"
Mia: "I can't describe the feeling of seeing Vane like this... Free
once again."
Nash: "Well, I'm sure some of these people would love to hear your
story. We will arrange a celebratory banquet immediately. I still
don't know who you people are, but you just made yourselves quite
notable heroes! We will organize the re-habitation from Nanza
immediately."
Lou: "I'm honored, Nash, as I'm sure the rest of us are."
* Isis nods.
* Lemia appears to be on the verge of tears. "Thank you, people...
