Cuts and Bruises

Stings like orange juice on a recently bit lip
Stings like your knee when you fall down and trip
Stings like collision with a wayward wiffle ball
Stings like days you don't talk to me at all

Ch.
And it stings, but it's worth all the joy you could bring
And it hurts, yes it hurts, but I'm not giving up yet
Plus it burns, but I'm fine, I can handle some damage
Because you're worth all the cuts and bruises I get.

Hurts like hammer when you swing and miss the nail
Hurts like papercut when opening your mail
Hurts like falling sideways when your legs stay straight
Hurts like finding out that I will have to wait

Ch.

Burns like coffee cup that's still too hot to grab
Burns like Bunsen when you're bored in the chem. lab
Burns like fingers when you hold the match too long
Burns like being told that you and I are wrong

Ch.
