Morning

Rolling over, wiping sleep away
I watch the bar of sunlight cast on my wall
And with reclosed eyes contemplate what it was
I was supposed to do today
Then I recall and with a sleepy look of pleasure on my face
Amble downstairs to open the fridge and pour a glass of juice,
Which I take out on the deck and drink as I watch
the lobstermen pull traps from the deep.
Resting my feet on a lobstertrap table I laugh
As I think about how happy you'll be to see me
Since it's been months and that is too long to go
Without seeing your best friend.
